May 13, 2013 · Thought it might be the gasket but when I took off the cap I realised the oil was coming from the botom of the distributor plate. Closer exam revealed that the plate was oily inside the dist. The car had about 20-25 pounds of oil pressure at idle and about 40 while riding at 40mph. Doesn't seem like excessive oil pressure. It has a PCV system.

It's odd to me that the oil leak from the distributor could make it all the way to the bottom of the upper radiator hose but it is slightly above the hose.

Mar 09, 2007 · Oil in distributor cap. You will have to replace the dist. This is a common problem with high milage toyotas. Somehow they damn things leak internally after that long of a time. Make sure you have some vasoline handy for the shaft when you try and put the new one in. It will take a few tries before you get it seated.

And that is one on the hardest places to seal at the rear of the intake manifold. But if it is really coming out where the distributor mounts do as monkey boy says.
